Shri Shankar Shikshayatan organised the 11th national seminar on Indravijaya on November 30,2024. The seminar was part of the annual series of discussions on Pandit Madhusudan Ojha’s extraordinary work, Indravijaya. The seminar focused on the fifth chapter of the book.
Prof. Dharmadatt Chaturvedi, Acharya, Sanskrit Department, Central Institute of Higher Tibetan Studies, Varanasi, pointed out that the fifth chapter contained the victory celebration of Indra. Words of praise were gathered from the Rigveda to welcome Indra. He quoted the Sanskrit verses used in the fifth chapter and recited them aloud.
Dr. Rajeev Lochan Sharma, Assistant Professor, Department of Nyaya, Kumar Bhaskar Verma University of Ancient Studies, Assam said that on the occasion of felicitation of Indra in the fifth chapter, Rishi Gritsamad and Rishi Vamadev praised Indra. In the mantra of Rigveda, the form of Indra is described in his own words– I am Manu, I am the Sun and I am a wise sage named Kakshivan.
Dr. Ranjan Lata, Assistant Professor, Department of Sanskrit, Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gorakhpur University, Gorakhpur, pointed out in her presentation that the chief of Aryans was Kutsa and the dasyus were called non-Aryans. There was a big war between these two. The dasyus were defeated by Indra. After the war was over, Indra returned to his abode in heaven where he was hailed by all and sundry.
Pro. Santosh Kumar Shukla, Centre of Sanskrit and Indic Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi presided over the event. Archaeologists take Harappa as the basis. They do not consider history based on Indian literature before Harappa. Then what is the relevance of history described in the book, Indravijaya? He said Indravijaya began with the description of Triloki. What relation can that Triloki have with history? This is a matter of consideration for us.
Dr. Kamalraj Upadhyay, Vedic Acharya, Shri Rukmini Vallabh Veda Vedanga Sanskrit College, Bulandshahr, recited the vedic mangalacharan. The programme was conducted by Dr. Lakshmi Kant Vimal of Shri Shankar Shikshayatan.
