National Seminar on Pandit Madhusudan Ojha’s Life and Works & Rishi Samman Ceremony

In collaboration with Varanasi’s Jnana Pravaha, Shri Shankar Shikshayatan organised a national seminar on Pandit Madhusudan Ojha’s Life and Works at Varanasi on November 17, 2024. The inaugural session was presided over by Prof. Hriday Ranjan Sharma, Vice Chairman, Maharshi Sandipani Rashtriya Veda Vidya, Ujjain. He said that in Vedic science, history has been presented in the light of Vedic context. As chief guest, Prof. Bal Shastri, former Head of Faculty, Faculty of Sanskrit Vidya Dharmavijnana, Benaras Hindu University, Varanasi, said that at a time when Indian scholars were forbidden to undertake sea voyages, Pandit Ojha ji went to England with Maharaja Madhav Singh and proved the relevance of travelling abroad with the help of shastras. While giving the welcome address, Prof. Yugal Kishore Mishra, former Vice Chancellor, Jagadguru Ramanandacharya Rajasthan Sanskrit University said that Pandit Madhusudan Ojha’s place of study was Kashi itself where Kashi’s eminent scholar Mahamahopadhyay Shivkumar Shastri ji was Ojha ji’s teacher. In the course of introducing the topic, Prof. Santosh Kumar Shukla of Jawahar Lal Nehru University, New Delhi, and Convener of Shri Shankar Shikshayatan, presented his views on the personality and work of Pandit Ojha ji in detail. In this national seminar, about 20 scholars presented research papers in two academic sessions. In the evening, Shri Shankar Shikshayatan honoured Mahamahopadhyay Acharya Vashisht Tripathi, renowned logician and Padma Bhushan awardee and Prof. Ram Chandra Pandey, former Dean, Faculty of Sanskritvidya and Dharmavijnana, Benaras Hindu University, Varanasi, with Rishi Samman. In this programme, many research scholars of Varanasi and eminent Vedic teachers and scholars made their invaluable contribution in making the programme a success.

Acharya Vashisht Tripathi (2024)

Mahamahopadhyaya Acharya Vashisht Tripathi was born on October 15, 1940 in Rampur Shukla village in Devariya, Uttar Pradesh. He was a bright student in his childhood. His father, Pandit Ramji Tripathi, introduced him to to shastras and shrutis. He completed his graduation from Sampurnanand Sanskrit University, Varanasi, with distinction, winning a gold medal at the university’s first graduation ceremony. He subsequently joined the university as the acharya and rose to become the head of the department, Rector, Prof-Vice Chancellor and acting Vice Chancellor. He guided several doctoral students during his tenure with the university. In 2004, he was rewarded with the President’s medal. In 2005, he was honoured with Vishishst Vidvat Puraskar and in 2006 with Valmiki Puraskar. In 2022, he was honoured with Padma Shri.He is currently Chairman of the Kashi Vidvat Parishad.
