Shri Shankar Shikshayatan organised a national seminar online on October 26,2024. The seminar was based on various subjects contained in the fourth chapter of Pandit Madhusudan Ojha’s Indravijaya. The seminar was the tenth meeting as part of our year-long discussion on Indravijaya.
Prof. Ramanuj Upadhyay, Department of Vedas, Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri National Sanskrit University, New Delhi said that in Indravijaya’s fourth chapter titled Dasyunigraha, the great deeds of Indra have been described. The chapter explained how Indra resolved the animosity between Dasyus and Aryas. Prof. Chandrashekhar Pandey, Acharya, Faculty of Ayurveda, Faculty of Medical Sciences, Kashi Hindu University, Varanasi said termed Pandit Madhusudan Ojha’s book as the history and geography of Bharatavarsha.
Dr. Abha Dwivedi, Assistant Acharya, Sanskrit Department, Siddharth University, Siddharth Nagar, Kapilvastu and Dr. Swarg Kumar Mishra, Assistant Professor, Department of Literature, Central Sanskrit University, Eklavya Campus, Tripura, explained Indra’s exploits in countering the adversarial Dasyus and how he achieved his victory over them. Dr. Shweta Tiwari, Senior Research Scholar, Vedic Research Institute, Jaipur said that in the book named Indravijay, an innovative explanation of bandits has been given in the chapter named Dasyunigraha. To harass the Arya, the non-Aryan bandits created a big ruckus. Pandit Ojha has identified these bandits and Arya by name on the basis of vedic references.
Prof. Santosh Kumar Shukla, Centre of Sanskrit and Indic Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, while presiding over the programme, said that Arya lived in a country called Gandharva. ‘Apagan’ people came to Gandharva to trouble them. He pointed out that ‘Afghan’ is derived from the word ‘Apgan’.
Prof. Ramraj Upadhyay,Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri National Sanskrit University, New Delhi, recited Vedic Mangala Charan. The programme was conducted by Dr. Laxmi Kant Vimal, Research Officer of Sri Shankar Shikshayatan Vedic Research Institute. Several professors, research scholars, scholars from universities and colleges of many states participated enthusiastically to make the seminar a success.
