आज जो पुराण-ग्रन्थ उपलब्ध हैं उनका विकास किस क्रम से हुआ, इनका मूल कहाँ से है, इनके प्रथम वक्ता कौन हैं, वर्तमान पुराण ग्रन्थों के कर्ता कौन हैं, आदि विषयों को लेकर ओझाजी द्वारा इस लघु ग्रन्थ का प्रणयन किया गया है । इस लघु ग्रन्थ में उक्त विषयों का बहुत स्पष्ट और विस्तृत विवेचन पुराणों के अधार पर ही किया गया है ।
