National Seminar on Indravijaya-Bharatavarsha Part VIII

Shri Shankar Shikshayatan organised the eighth seminar on August 31, 2024, as part of its vedic seminar series Pandit Madhusudan Ojha’s Indravijaya. The seminar was organised on the basis of various topics from the last part of the second chapter of Indravijaya .

Speaking on the topic as the chief guest, Prof. Shobha Mishra, Acharya, Sanskrit Department, Vikramajit Singh Sanatan Dharma Mahavidyalaya, Kanpur said that in Indravijaya, Pandit Madhusudan Ojha has presented elaborate discussion on ribhu. He has referred to the Rigveda notations on Ribhu. In the context of Ribhu, Ribhu was a craftsman who assisted man in his work. Ribhu had created two horses for Indra. Riding on those two horses, Indra killed the bandits. These references prove that Ribhu was a resident of Bharatavarsha. Prof. Anita Rajpal, Acharya, Department of Sanskrit, Hindu College, Delhi University, Delhi, also emphasised that Ribhu was a skilled sculptor and he was taught by Tvashta. Ribhu was endowed with three types of craftmanship.

Dr. Jaya Sah, Assistant Acharya, Department of Sanskrit, Tripura University, Tripura, pointed out that Ojahji has collected the names of many rivers through the Bharatvarsha narrative of the book named Indravijaya. Not only are the names of the rivers mentioned, but a detailed outline of the geographical area situated on the river banks is described. In Rigveda, these names of Purvasaptanad are- Ganga, Yamuna, Saraswati, Shutudri, Parushni, Asakni and Vitasta. In this, Ganga, Yamuna, Saraswati, Shutudri Stoma, Sachta Purushnya are the names of Paschim Saptnad. There is another Saptnad from Panch Gaur country towards the north. Whose names are Kulishi, Veerpatni, Shifanjsi etc.

Prof. Santosh Kumar Shukla, Acharya, School of Sanskrit and Indic Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, chaired the session. He pointed out Pandit Madhusudan Ojha has listed the characteristics of a true Aryan. According to Ojhaji, the one whose deity is Omkar, whose shastra is Veda and whose deity is Ganga and cow, is the real Arya. He is a native of India. He has not come from outside in any way.
